Glucosamine is available in different forms which are usually known as salts. While all the different types of salts of glucosamine may contain the same general components, they may not all produce the same effects in the body. Researchers have reported more effectiveness on the part of glucosamine sulfate than glucosamine hydrochloride. No studies have compared these two salts. Hence there is not enough information available about the potential differences in their activity to know whether these glucosamine salts are interchangeable.
